The teachers were terrible.. my feet ached like hell and even the canteen food so horrible.. aaaggghhh... i m going crazy out here..

Theres just one glimmer of hope.. I might get my scooter.. if not in this sem..definitely by the next one..

You know, I would almost be glad if they threw me out on pretext of the provisional certificate..

You've got to watch this one..

Hey guys,

I just finished watching the movie Dor.. and it is one fantastic movie.. you've got to watch it guys.. something wonderful and inspiring.. its surprising that this movie has been made in India..

Above all, the message which it gives is soooooo good..

And you know wat I liked best.. it was the end, in which Ayesha Takia gathers up the courage to run away with her friend .. that one scene made the highlight of the movie... I suppose you don't know what I am talking about..

Just watch it.. Once....

Cheers,
Pankti..

Another lovely poem...

Hello everybody,

This is a lovely poem that came to me as a forward. Just read the poem, and I am sure... that all of us will identify with it sometime or the other..

Around the Corner A Vanished Friend

Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.

And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.

And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.

"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim
Just to show that I'm thinking of him."
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner, yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir," "Jim died today."
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.

Long time no post...

I know i've not posted in some time.. but here i am with the whole new look..

I've even added a video section...which i'll try to change every week.. how about it??

Sup...tell me, do u like this one or the previous one? Its just a change of template.. so I would really appreciate it if you would lemme know.. at least, I'd know somebody is going through it on a regular basis..

So...you ask me.. where was I?? and why haven't I posted in a long time??

The thing is, since the vacation was going on.. I was enjoying myself.. Now theres, just 3 more days left..

I celebrated diwali (check out the pooja video), made lots of visits (snaps coming up soon), and even saw Don..

Since i've not seen the previous Don, I found this one good..The suspense is really amazing..

I won't reveal it .. you should check it out for yourself.. its different even if you've seen the original one.. and the music is good too... Me being the bigda hua bachcha of the 21st century (shud I say 22nd?? ) .. i really liked the remixes better than the originals..

Right now ( as of rite this moment) I am trying to ignore the pathetic performance of the Indian team.. the score is 210/6 in 47.5 overs.. sheesh.. i just wish they wouldnt humiliate themselves in this way.. thats 213/7... i know i know.. i switched it off...

catch ya later..

bbye..

Change...

Hi guys,

Just a few more hours to go..

and then I'll be a free bird..

I mean, its not like I am in the prison or anything..but well, you know how it is.. when you've constantly got the feeling that you've to complete something.. this assigment, that tut..

So for 10 days, I am gonna be completely free.. of course, going back to the grind will be more difficult after that.. but who cares??

Tomorrow is the last of my torturous exams.. Its IT614-Programming Paradigms... As I've already told you.. the first two of my exams were terrible..

Maths was strictly ok..the paper was easy but I'd not studied..so whaddya expect..hmm..something about 35-40...that's of course wishful thinking...

Then today was Computer Organisation and OS...the name kinda wears you out..doesn't it?? Well, so did the paper.. It was soooo long.. but I can promise you that I did better than last time (remember the 37.5/80 fiasco) .. well the denominator is still 80 but hopefully the numerator will make some progress..

Well, better get back to the books.. or to the compilers and Prof RB Lenin might like it...

Wish me luck for tomorrow's exam guys.. i think its the only hope I have of maintaining a respectable CPI .. (Credit Point Index, in case you don't know)...

Values of Ethics

Well, this is just a write-up for my communication class and I thought I would share it with you..

What are ethics? Oxford Dictionary defines ethics as system of moral principles which define the character of a person.  For me, a person who does not have his ethics and his moral principles very firmly defined is incapable of having a strong character.  Although I may not be doing something which is illegal as per the law when I am telling a lie, I need to fail afraid of my consience and of my God by performing something which might hurt someone or which is simply not right.

But of course, this question of ethics is an extremely tricky one.  Because ethics or morals are something very personal.  For example, if hiding the truth keeps me from hurting someone very deeply then in my opinion it is not at all unethical.  That is because, in fact, I am not telling a lie; but only shielding the person from a fact which if she knew would certainly hurt her.  On the other hand, someone else would believe that no matter what, the truth should be told.  I cannot say such a thing is wrong, even though I might think so.  Because, as I have mentioned above, perception of ethics is very different for different people.

Professional ethics are something which should be so deeply embedded in us that the question of going against them does not arise.  For a doctor, ethics would be maintaining the confidentiality of his patients.  Let us consider a case of an online counsellar who provides counselling anonymously.  Such a person needs to have an extremely strong willpower.  Very often, her patients or callers might tell her something which she might feel she has to tell someone; but their patients' confidentiality should be her top priority.  However, supposing the counsellar feels that her caller is suicidal and might take the extreme step.  In this case, it becomes crucial for the counsellar to maybe reveal the identity of the caller to the police to locate him and provide help.

Lets take another case which was quite recent and was in the news for some time.  Kaavya Vishwanathan is an Indian-American undergraduate student in Harvard College (America) who came to attention when her first novel "How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild and Got a Life" was revealed to have been pligiarized from various sources.  Following the revelation, Kaavya was forced with a lot of disgrace.  The novel was withdrawn from stores with immediate effect.  Although later on, she did say that the similarities were "completely unintentional" but the damage was done.  In journalism and the writers community, pliagarism is the deed of a person with the lowest of ethics.  Had she not taken this step, maybe she would not have had her book published.  But she should have been content with what she had.  That would have preserved her ethics and her reputation.  Sadly, it was not to be.

Many people believe that ethics of a person depend upon the way he/she is brought up.  Some even go so far as to say that they are embedded in genes.  Well, I would say that I agree to some extent with the first statement but I do not believe in the latter at all.  The upbringing of a person might affect a person but its not always in the same way as his environment is.  If that were the case, all the criminals' children would also turn out to be criminals, isn't it?  Infact, sometimes it has the opposite effect.  When kids see and realize their parents could be wrong and what the consequences could be, they are more determined to succeed and to be different from their parents.  On the other hand, kids with the most honest of parents might turn to some wrong means to achieve their goals.  I am not saying that this is always the case.  It always depends on the individual.

Basically, ethics is always about making choices and making the right ones at that.  Many times we are faced with two paths and must decide which one we want to choose.  We just have to try our best and move through life.  But we must always remember that we as human beings are capable of making mistakes and hence must have enough humility to realise this and make good our mistakes.

You might want to take some time to refect on these quotes.

The last temptation is the greatest treason; to do the right deed for the wrong reason.
-T.S.Eliot

Integrity without knowledge is weak and useless and knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful.
-Samuel Johnson
